Welcome to the website of writer, editor, and cookbook author, Portia Little. For more than twenty-five years, Portia has been a freelance contributor to magazines, newspapers, and newsletters, covering a wide range of topics such as food and cooking, business profiles, pets, travel, restaurant reviews, humor, and books. She has also worked as an editor and proofreader for the marketing departments of major financial institutions as well as colleges and universities. Soon after moving to Rhode Island, she began researching and writing copy for local tourist brochures. A puzzle hobbyist, she has produced crossword puzzles that have been published.

A few years ago Portia began creating theme gift cookbooks featuring easy recipes and quotations. She founded Panntree Press, an independent publishing company, to publish them, and now has seven titles in the series. The cookbook themes include romance, vegetarian, dessert, New England, Finger Lakes, bread pudding, and humor (limericks). Cooking with Coffee, her latest book, was published in 2012.

When she's not writing, Portia escapes to the kitchen to concoct brilliant yeast breads, superb bread puddings, amazing mushroom soups, and scintillating chocolate sweets.

“From morning till night, sounds drift from the kitchen, most of them familiar and comforting…On days when warmth is the most important need of the human heart, the kitchen is the place you can find it; it dries the wet sock, it cools the hot little brain.”
(E. B. White)

"Caramels are only a fad. Chocolate is a permanent thing."
